Filtering the Dispatch Board by Rig: One Pressure Washing Trailer's Day at a Time
With one rig, the dispatch board is a simple list. Add a second trailer and the same list becomes twice as long and twice as confusing. Is the house on Maple Street on Rig 1 or Rig 2? Did both crews get sent to the same shopping center? Filtering by rig is the small habit that keeps a two-rig board as readable as a one-rig board.
Start With the Whole Board
The board itself, and how jobs show on it by day, is covered in The Pressure Washing Dispatch Board: Every Rig and Every Job by Day. Filtering is the next layer: instead of looking at every job on a day, you look at the jobs assigned to one rig.
In PressureWashingBossPro, every job is assigned to a rig, and the dispatch board can be filtered to show just that rig. What you see is exactly what that crew will see on their phone for that day, in the same order.
Why the Filter Matters
Pressure washing days are uneven. A rig with one roof soft wash and one large house wash has a full day with only two stops. Another rig with six driveways and a fence might be just as busy. When both rigs are mixed together on one list, it is hard to see that one of them is about to run until dark.
Filtered by rig, each day reads as a single crew's workload. You can scan the job details under each address — surfaces, square feet, stories — and ask the only question that matters: can this crew finish this list?
Balancing Two Rigs
A practical routine for owners running two rigs:
- Filter to Rig 1 for tomorrow. Read the list top to bottom. Count the long jobs. Check that timed stops are where they need to be.
- Filter to Rig 2. Same check.
- Move what does not fit. If Rig 1 is overloaded and Rig 2 has room, reassign a job. If neither has room, move it to another day.
- Re-route both. After moving jobs, auto-route each rig from the shop and fix timed stops by hand.
Done this way, balancing a day takes a few minutes instead of a long look at a mixed list.
Watch for one more thing while you are filtered: two rigs heading to the same neighborhood. If Rig 1 has a house wash on one street and Rig 2 has a driveway two blocks over, one of those stops probably belongs on the other rig. Moving it saves a trailer a long drive and keeps each crew in its own part of town for the day.
Filtering by Type of Work
Many companies give each rig a type of work. One trailer does residential house washes, roofs and flatwork. The other runs commercial: storefronts, drive-thrus, dumpster pads and HOA common areas. In that setup, filtering by rig is the same as filtering by type of work, which makes the board even easier to read.
Other companies split rigs by equipment. The rig with the hot-water unit takes the dumpster pads and gum removal. The rig with the bigger surface cleaner takes the long driveways and pool decks. Either way, the filter shows you whether each rig is getting the work it is set up for. The residential-versus-commercial split is covered in Splitting a Residential Pressure Washing Rig From a Commercial Route.
Save the Filter
If you filter by the same rig every morning, save it. Saved views put “Rig 1 tomorrow” and “Rig 2 tomorrow” one click away. Owners who also run a rig themselves often keep a saved view of their own rig so they can check it from the truck.
Filtered views also print well. If a crew wants a route sheet on paper, print the filtered day for that rig, and it matches the phone.
When a Rig Is Down
Equipment breaks. A pump fails, a trailer gets a flat, a crew member calls in sick. When one rig is out, filter to it, see what was on its list, and spread those jobs across the other rig and other days. The filter turns a messy morning into a short, clear list of jobs that need a new home.
Text the affected customers from the office. Two-way texting means their replies come back to the office, not to a crew member's personal phone.
One Rig at a Time, One Board for All
Filtering does not split the company into separate schedules. It is still one board, one set of customers and one office map with crew GPS. The filter just lets you think about one trailer at a time. For the rest of the scheduling tools, see the pressure washing scheduling software page.
