The Crew App: Pressure Washing Software on the Operator's Phone
The office plans the day. The rig works it. Everything the office entered, from the surfaces on the job to the gate code, is only useful if it reaches the person holding the wand. The crew app is how it gets there.
The Other End of the Dispatch Board
The route set on the dispatch board, covered in Routes and the Dispatch Board: Planning a Rig's Day in Pressure Washing Software, is the same route the operator sees on the phone. Move a job on the board and it moves on the phone.
The crew app runs in the browser on iPhone and Android. It can be installed to the home screen so it opens like any other app, but there is no app store download, no account for each phone and no special device to buy.
Logging In
Operators log in with the company login plus their own personal PIN. That means every job they start, every photo they take and every clock-in is tied to the right person. If someone leaves the company, turning off their PIN turns off their access, without changing anything for everyone else.
The Day in Route Order
After logging in, the operator sees their jobs for the day in route order. Each job card shows:
- The address with a navigation button that opens directions in one tap.
- The job details in one line: “House Wash, Driveway · 3,800 sq ft · 2-story · Vinyl · Soft Wash.”
- Access notes: spigot location, gate code, dog, plants to cover, cars to move.
- Past notes from earlier visits, like “Stain on the garage side needs a second pass” from last year's wash.
A quick scroll through the day tells the operator what to load before leaving the shop: how much surface cleaner work, how many soft wash jobs, whether there is a roof. It also tells them where the day could run long. A morning of 1-story vinyl houses moves fast. A 3-story stucco house wash with a roof soft wash in the middle of the day needs planning, and the card says so before anyone pulls in.
Start, Skip, Complete
Three buttons run the day:
- Start tells the office the job is underway.
- Skip is for a job that cannot be done today, with a note saying why: rain, no water access, customer's cars still in the driveway, gate locked.
- Complete marks the job done and kicks off everything after it.
Skipped jobs come back to the office with the note, so they can be rescheduled and the customer can be texted. Nothing disappears.
Before-and-After Photos
Pressure washing is one of the most visual trades there is. A before-and-after pair of a driveway or a roof is proof of the work for the customer, protection for you if someone later says a section was missed, and good material for your marketing.
Photos taken in the crew app are saved with the job. The office sees them as soon as they are taken. For commercial accounts, a photo of every visit is a simple record that the dumpster pad or drive-thru was actually washed that month.
Automatic Texts and Payment at Completion
As the operator works the route, the customer gets automatic on-the-way and arrived texts. The operator never has to type a message or call ahead. Customers pick which alerts they want: the night before, when they are next, and when the crew arrives.
When the operator taps Complete, the invoice is created, and if the customer has a card on file, it can be charged right then. The money is in motion before the rig leaves the curb. Commercial accounts on monthly billing get their visit added to the month's statement instead.
Time Clock and GPS
The time clock is in the same app. Operators clock in and out on the phone they are already using, so hours are recorded as they happen instead of reconstructed on Friday. Crew GPS shows on the office map, so the office knows where each rig is when a customer calls. Both are covered in more depth in Time Clock and Crew GPS in Pressure Washing Software.
Easy Enough for a New Hire
The crew app is built so a new helper can learn it in one ride-along. Log in, tap the first job, read the card, tap navigation, tap Start, wash, take the photos, tap Complete. Repeat. The details that used to live in the owner's head are on the card, so the owner does not have to be on every truck.
